Slow and steady wins the race, we hope!

We've only spent $31 dollars so far - getting a bit stressed.

Up the CPC rates on all three AdGroups and made a new fourth group - taking a different angle.

Hope this helps!!

Progress

Initially we started off our campaign with 2 AdGroups: one to market the Guest House as Grahamstown accommodation, and one to promote it as a place to stay specifically over the National Arts Festival.

We found that the Festival group was slightly more successful so we created another group with a specific aim. Our third group markets our client as accommodation for the Highway Africa Media conference. This group was set up 2 days ago so today we will evaluate its success.

We are finding it slightly difficult to assess how well our ads are working, the balance in our account never seems to go down?!

Here's hoping for lots of clicks!

Google Online Marketing Competition 2009

Once upon a time, about a week and half ago, a team of four New Media students at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa, struggled to put together their pre-campaign report for the Google Online Marketing Competition (GOMC) 2009.

As a class we were cutting the competition deadline increadibly fine, essentially we had about 3 days to find a client and get started. Our lucky selection was 7 Worcester Street, a luxury guest house in the centre of town.

Under extreme pressure from time and a multitude of other assigments we managed to set up the campaign but it took some time to figure out the best ways to manipulate the settings for optimal advertising.

We will attempt to update this blog as often as possible with regards to our campaign activity.
